Mission Protectas : Caroline Jelenz

Who are you in a few words?

I’m Caroline Jelenz, I’m 48 years old, and I’m Austrian. I’m an open book – there’s nothing that I haven’t already shared with someone, as openness is very important to me.

What motivated you to work at Protectas?

I was talking with a colleague I met during horse riding sessions, and I mentioned that I was looking for a job. She’s the one who recommended that I apply to Protectas. And now we are colleagues!

Can you tell us about your beginnings at Protectas?

I started in November 2020 as an operator in the alarm centre. The shift work, especially the night shifts, was difficult at first, but it’s a challenge that I’m happy to take on.

And now, what are you responsible for?

I work in the back office, where I’m responsible for managing our database: this includes new entries, updates, terminations, and billing.

What do you like about your job?

What I like is the variety of tasks. Every day is different from the last.

What is your biggest challenge, and how do you handle it?

I don’t have a technical background, so I have to learn on the job. Fortunately, when I encounter a problem, I can always count on my colleagues or superiors, who are always willing to help.

Which value speaks to you the most, and why? (Integrity, Vigilance, Helpfulness)

For me, integrity, vigilance, and helpfulness go hand in hand. I’m happy to be able to live and experience these values at Protectas.

How do you feel about working as a woman in your job?

I feel totally accepted and integrated at Protectas, both as a woman and as a person with a physical disability.

What advice would you give to women who want to work in the security sector?

Nothing ventured, nothing gained! I strongly encourage women and people with disabilities to leave no stone unturned. If you’re interested in the security industry, apply, give your best every day, and pursue your goals with courage and passion. Go for it!
