Mission Protectas : Josh Hauri

Who are you in a few words?

My name is Josh Hauri, and I am 22 years old. I was born and raised in Switzerland, but I also have Jamaican roots. I completed my training as a cook (EFZ) in 2020. I still pursue this profession, but only as a hobby.

What motivated you to work at Protectas?

My motivation comes from my belief that security is important for every community. Protectas has a meaningful mission to protect people and ensure safety. The company's values – integrity, responsibility, and teamwork – align with my own.

Can you tell us about your beginnings at Protectas?

My beginnings at Protectas were exciting and educational. I quickly integrated and got motivated. The intensive training allowed me to acquire important knowledge and valuable information. I was particularly impressed by the helpfulness of my colleagues.

And now, what are you responsible for?

Currently, I work as a Data Center Security Site Manager.

I ensure the smooth operation and security of a highly sensitive data center. I lead a team of 14 employees, plan their tasks, and conduct individual interviews and coaching sessions. My duties range from initial customer security concerns to control rounds and access checks, to operating modern security systems. I protect sensitive data, manage security tickets, conduct evacuations, and respond to alarms.

Each task helps keep our data center safe and efficient.

What do you like about your job?

I particularly enjoy the teamwork and the opportunity to constantly learn new things and develop myself. I work in a sector that often remains in the background but is of great importance.

It is fulfilling to ensure the security of sensitive data and constantly meet new challenges.

What is your biggest challenge, and how do you deal with it?

I don't have very big challenges in my job, but they are enough to constantly motivate me and encourage me to learn more. Each task brings its own small hurdles that motivate me to improve my skills and find new solutions, as I am very solution-oriented.

Which value speaks to you the most, and why? (Integrity, Vigilance, Helpfulness)

Integrity. In my role as a Data Center Security Site Manager, it is crucial to always act honestly and transparently. Integrity means to me always doing the right thing, even when it's difficult or no one is watching.

Vigilance and helpfulness also play a major role. Vigilance helps us to recognize and react to potential security risks early, while helpfulness promotes teamwork and customer satisfaction.

Advice for women who want to work in the security sector?

Believe in yourself and your abilities. This sector offers many exciting opportunities and challenges, and it's important not to be discouraged by stereotypes or prejudices.

The security sector needs more dedicated and talented women. With your unique perspective and skills, you can make a big difference and shape the future of the industry.
