What is world inclusion day?

World inclusion day was established to highlight the importance of an inclusive society across all domains. It serves as a reminder that every individual, regardless of gender, origin, age, religion, sexual orientation, or disability, should be able to fully participate in collective life. Companies and organisations are therefore encouraged to promote diversity and combat discrimination through concrete actions.

The importance of diversity and inclusion at Protectas

At Protectas, inclusion and diversity are not just concepts but values at the heart of our corporate culture. Our mission, as a key player in security in Switzerland, is to offer safe and welcoming environments for all. We believe that diversity within our teams enhances not only our services but also reflects the society in which we operate.

Building a concrete movement for sustainable inclusion: DEIB

In June 2023, the DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging) movement was launched in Switzerland with three dedicated employees. Today, this group has grown to nine members, all united by the goal of bringing inclusion and diversity into the core of our company. Their mission is to raise awareness among our teams about the values of inclusion, equality, and diversity by proposing concrete actions and creating spaces for dialogue and awareness.

Concrete initiatives: from awareness to the role of ambassador

To raise awareness among employees, several initiatives have been organised this year:

  • Pride month: In June, a simultaneous event in Geneva and Lausanne addressed the theme of inclusion with a 40-question quiz on diversity values, followed by a talk from Human Resources. The goal was to encourage open exchange, promote kindness, and motivate everyone to become an agent of change. This moment allowed our teams to better understand the importance of inclusion and commit to a respectful work environment.
  • Disability in the workplace: In October, another event was organised to raise awareness of disabilities in the professional environment. This was a time for sharing, where the complexity of different types of disabilities was discussed. The focus was on the fact that disabilities can be invisible and not limited to fixed categories. The event aimed to encourage dialogue and identify employees willing to get involved as DEIB ambassadors.

The crucial role of DEIB ambassadors at Protectas

DEIB ambassadors play an essential role. They connect employees with Human Resources or external structures, ensuring exchanges remain anonymous. These ambassadors are facilitators who help employees feel safe and secure to discuss their needs and resolve issues they encounter at work. By regularly communicating with Human Resources, they act as a bridge for information and prevention and support the creation of a calm and caring work environment.

Why this diversity is an asset for our clients

For Protectas, diversity is not only an ethical imperative but a key asset in our services. Our teams, enriched with multiple perspectives, are better prepared to anticipate and meet the varied needs of our clients. This diversity enables us to offer security solutions that are more human-centered and adapted to a constantly evolving society.

Women in the security sector: challenges and opportunities

While progress has been made, women still face challenges in the field of security. Their underrepresentation persists in many areas, and gender stereotypes continue to limit their professional opportunities. Additionally, balancing professional and personal life remains complex due to irregular hours and the need for availability in times of crisis.

However, positive signs are emerging as the presence of women increases, both on the ground and in leadership positions. Today, approximately 22% of our employees are women, and we encourage new applications from them for all roles and levels every day. We also invite women to join Protectas by helping them identify with our current female employees through our Mission Protectas interviews.

Toward greater inclusion in the future

On this world inclusion day, Protectas renews its commitment to building a future where everyone has a place. By continuing to invest in inclusive programs and strengthening our DEIB movement, we are moving towards a corporate culture where diversity is seen as a strength and where every individual can contribute to our collective success.
