    Bob Medjbeur, security officer, geneva

While on his patrol, Bob noticed a young man he wasn’t used to seeing at the site, sitting near some garages. Quickly, Bob assessed the young man’s condition as alarming: he seemed delirious and completely disoriented. He decided to approach him to ask if he was okay. The response was incoherent, and the young man asked for help to get up.

The officer supported him and tried to move him away from the area by helping him climb stairs, but quickly realized the young man was struggling to stay on his feet. Just before reaching the Grottes bus stop, the young man collapsed.

    A Critical Situation

Thanks to his reflexes, the officer managed to hold him up but immediately recognized the severity of the situation: the young man was pale and unconscious. Bob spoke to him but got no response. When he checked his pulse, he found it was extremely weak.

Without wasting time and with great composure, Bob dialed 144 and activated the speakerphone on his communication device to stay connected with emergency services while attending to the victim.

    A Life-Saving Intervention

When he placed the young man on his back, Bob noticed a concerning sign: his abdomen wasn’t moving, he was no longer breathing. Trained in first aid during his security officer training, Bob immediately began performing CPR to keep the young man’s vital functions going until help arrived.

After several compressions, the young man regained consciousness, opened his eyes, and started breathing again. But the improvement was short-lived, as seconds later, he slipped back into a critical state.

Bob immediately resumed CPR, fighting relentlessly to keep the breath of life going until the paramedics arrived.

    Emergency Response

When the paramedics arrived, they took over the victim and confirmed to Bob that his critical state was due to heavy drug and alcohol consumption.

The paramedics praised the quality of the officer’s intervention, which allowed the young man to regain consciousness and be stabilized. Bob emphasized the importance of first aid training provided to Protectas agents, which enables them to respond quickly and effectively in emergencies.

    Ensuring Safety Beyond Surveillance

While the victim was being treated by the paramedics, the officer secured the area and dispersed the young people and others gathered around the scene.

The young man remained in the ambulance for several minutes to receive necessary care, while Bob wrote a detailed report of the incident to document every step of this heroic intervention.

This event perfectly illustrates the important role of security officers, which goes far beyond surveillance. They are also trained to protect and save lives.

Thanks to their vigilance, responsiveness, and training, they are able to intervene effectively in critical situations.

We are proud of our teams and their daily commitment to everyone’s safety. This act of bravery serves as a reminder that every second counts when it comes to saving a life.
